Susan L. Novosad is a partner at Levin & Perconti and has practiced law for over 20 years. She is a highly experienced trial attorney who concentrates primarily in the areas of nursing home litigation, medical malpractice, automobile accidents and premises liability matters.

A fundamental aspect of Susan’s practice is her accessibility to her clients. She believes that her clients are entitled to fair compensation for the harm they have suffered, and has met with Illinois legislators to oppose laws placing limits on recoveries of medical malpractice victims.

Susan serves her clients with compassion, expending tireless effort to obtain justice. She is a skilled negotiator with an exceptional ability to bring opposing parties to resolution and end disputes. Her power to diplomatically resolve cases has earned her the enduring respect of her peers on both sides of the courtroom.

Some of Susan’s most notable achievements include a $6.7 million jury verdict in a birth-related medical malpractice case, a $995,000 verdict for a 67-year-old assisted living resident who choked and died after being given food prohibited by his diet, a $1.5 million resolution for an 87-year-old nursing home resident who suffered burns after being placed in a sitz bath, and a record $1 million settlement on behalf of a nursing home resident who died after sustaining injuries at a nursing home. This settlement was the largest nursing home negligence settlement in Lake County, IL, history.

In addition to her practice, Susan mentors future attorneys through John Marshall Law School’s Alumni Mentoring program. Susan grew up in Evanston, IL, and attended the University of Illinois for her undergraduate studies. In 1986, Susan received her J.D., cum laude, from John Marshall Law School and was admitted to practice law in the state of Illinois and the U.S. District County, Northern District of Illinois, that same year.

Susan resides with her husband, also an attorney, in suburban Chicago, and has three children.
