Patricia (Tricia) Gifford joined Levin & Perconti as an associate attorney in 2006 after graduating second in her class from John Marshall Law School. Since then, Tricia has achieved a number of multi-million dollar settlements for clients in all types of personal injury and wrongful death cases.

Recently, Tricia helped recover a $6.5 million birth injury settlement for a young girl who suffers from cerebral palsy as a result of medical malpractice, along with a $6.5 million trucking accident settlement for the family of a 32-year-old woman who was killed when her family’s pick-up truck was rear-ended by a semi-truck.

Tricia settled a number of significant nursing home settlements in 2011.  She achieved a $1 million nursing home settlement for the family of a man who fell in a Chicago facility and suffered a fatal brain injury.  In another case, Tricia recovered a facility’s insurance policy limit of $861,000 for the family of resident who died as a result of the staff’s failure to properly care for his tracheostomy tube. Tricia also obtained an $800,000 nursing home neglect settlement in a case in which an elderly resident suffered a fall, hip fracture, and pressure sore, which contributed to his death.

In her first trial, Tricia achieved a $1 million Cook County jury verdict for the family of a 54-year-old blind nursing home resident who exited a window at the nursing home and died from fall-related injuries.  Tricia also played a key role in the investigation and development of evidence in a premises liability case involving a tragic fire that claimed the lives of six children and severely injured two others. The lawsuit settled for $6 million without even completing written discovery.

Tricia has written numerous successful pretrial and mediation submissions, one of which resulted in a $5.35 million settlement for the estate of an 18-year-old girl who was misdiagnosed with pneumonia and boarded in the hospital’s emergency room for over 15 hours before she died.

Tricia earned her B.A. from the University of Illinois at Champaign and began her career in the private business sector. After 12 years of corporate success, she decided to leave her position as director of U.S. Field Operations for a $550 million client services organization to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming an attorney.

Tricia’s leadership, organizational and technological skills, along with her unsurpassed dedication and commitment to her clients, makes her a true asset to Levin & Perconti.
