Jordan S. Powell was hired as a litigation associate in August 2007. Since joining Levin & Perconti, Jordan’s diligence, drive and dedication have helped the firm to achieve results on behalf of those who have suffered from tragic and catastrophic injuries. As an associate, Jordan plays an important role in the preparation of personal injury and wrongful death cases for mediation and trial.

Recently, Jordan assisted Partner Susan Novosad in obtaining a $1 million settlement for the death of an 83-year-old nursing home resident, the largest nursing home neglect settlement in Lake County, IL history. Jordan also helped Susan obtain an $850,000 settlement on behalf of an 88-year-old man who slipped on a painted area while exiting a Jiffy Lube store.

Jordan assisted Partner Steven Levin with the settlement of two notable nursing home cases. They obtained a $715,000 settlement on behalf of a 74-year-old resident of three Chicago nursing homes who developed severe pressure sores, malnutrition and dehydration. Jordan and Steven also reached a $400,000 settlement for the family of a 62-year-old nursing home resident who fell from a defective geriatric chair and sustained a fatal subdural hematoma.

Jordan earned his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law where he focused his studies on developing a well-rounded litigation background, earning high honors in both trial advocacy and litigation technology courses. Prior to law school, Jordan attended the University of Michigan where he was on the dean’s list and graduated with academic distinction. While there, he earned two degrees: a B.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in Organizational Studies.

Outside of work, Jordan makes a conscious effort to help the underprivileged through his volunteer work. In 2007, he spent a week in the Gulf Coast offering legal advice to victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and helping with the demolition of destroyed homes. Additionally, Jordan is an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association where he serves on the council for the Young Lawyers Division. Further, he is a member of the Decalogue Society, Chicago Bar Association, American Bar Association, Illinois Trial Lawyer’s Association and the American Association of Justice’s Nursing Home Litigation Group.

Jordan also volunteers at both Chicago-Kent College of Law and John Marshall Law School, judging trial advocacy and moot court competitions.

Jordan was raised in West Bloomfield, MI, and attended Bloomfield Hills Andover High School, where his ambition, competitiveness and scholastic achievement were evident. Jordan was a three-letter athlete and earned numerous scholar-athlete honors. He now resides in downtown Chicago.
