Rick J. Wittmer joined Levin & Perconti as a litigation associate in October of 2007.   After earning his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in 2005, he gained his trial experience at Bruce Farrel Dorn & Associates, a civil defense firm specializing in the litigation of catastrophic personal injury lawsuits arising out of motor vehicle and construction accidents, slip and falls, dog bites and residential fires. Rick’s thorough knowledge and understanding of the insurance industry’s policies, procedures and mindset will be a tremendous asset to the clients served by Levin & Perconti.  
 
Since joining Levin and Perconti, Mr. Wittmer has been involved in the investigation, development and litigation of catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits.  He has assisted in trial preparation and negotiation for a number cases involving auto and boating accidents, nursing home abuse and neglect and medical malpractice.  He prides himself in providing each client with respect, compassion and zealous advocacy.
       
Prior to pursuing his ambition of becoming a trial lawyer, Rick earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from Drake University in 1993 and taught middle school for eight years at Plato Academy, a private elementary school.  Rick continues his involvement in youth education by serving as School Board President at Plato Academy.  In his third consecutive term, Rick dedicates his critical thinking and problem solving skills to shaping tomorrow’s leaders.

Mr. Wittmer was a Dean’s Scholar at The John Marshall Law School and a member of The John Marshall Trial Competition Team.  While attending law school, Rick clerked for the firm of Brigitte Schmidt Bell, P.C. Litigation and Mediation and interned with the Cook County State’s Attorney's Office in the Civil Litigation Bureau. He also served as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Charles P. Kocoras, Chief Judge of the Northern District of Illinois.

A lifelong athlete, Rick completed his first marathon in the historic 30th Annual Chicago Marathon to benefit a charity that provides sports programs to underprivileged children.   He passed the Illinois State Bar Exam in 2005 and holds licenses to practice in both Illinois State and Federal Court.  Mr. Wittmer resides in Chicago.
