Who are the Illinois Long-Term Care Ombudsmen?
The advocates and volunteers who work for the Illinois Long-Term Care Ombudsmen Program are crucial to protecting the well-being of Illinois nursing home residents. These advocates defend and advocate for the rights of residents by looking into and resolving complaints against Illinois nursing homes for residents and families. The Ombudsmen act as a voice for residents and provide valuable information to help families advocate for them, including information on what services are available and how they can receive them.
When a resident does not have family or friends who can visit them on a regular basis, an ombudsman may also be the person who identifies problems, such as nursing home negligence. No matter the situation, the ombudsmen fight for quality care and respect for all residents living in nursing homes they serve.
The ombudsmen’s services are free and available to current nursing home residents, family members and friends. In addition to the services listed above, they also give advice to families who are considering long-term care for a loved one.
