Failures in Care Lead to Resident Complaints and Injuries at Aperion Care Evanston

It's not easy to put your trust in a nursing home or healthcare center to handle the needs of your loved one. How can you be sure they are maintaining the high standards they advertise? What really happens behind closed doors, after visiting hours have passed?

The unfortunate truth is that even in smaller facilities in upscale settings, failures in care still occur. Patients don't always receive the care they deserve, and some facilities even have major health violations of which you may not be aware.

We work tirelessly to uncover the facts about these facilities and ensure they are held accountable for their failures in care. Read on to learn more about Aperion Care Evanston:

While on the surface, you'll find that this facility seems well-rated, Levin & Perconti have found some details you may want to be aware of.

09/21/2017 Failure to provide a safe, clean, comfortable and homelike environment. The facility was cited to have a pervasive urine and mildew/dirty clothes smell throughout both care floors. The off-putting smell permeated the facility to the point that the origin couldn't be identified, as it was everywhere. When staff were questioned about the smell, they wrote it off as something that was just sort of "there" and not of major concern - even though their environment smelled dirty.

09/21/2017 Failure to give residents proper treatment to prevent new bed (pressure) sores or heal existing bed sores. Various breakdowns in communication and improper assessments led to the unnecessary decline in condition of a residents' pressure ulcer on their ankle.

9/21/2017 Failure to make sure that the nursing home area is free from accident hazards and risks and provides supervision to prevent avoidable accidents. A resident was injured, requiring hospitalization, due to improper transfer methods moving the resident from a wheelchair to bed. After interview, it appeared that proper transfer procedure was only loosely followed in general.
