Prior to joining the firm, Jared was a 711 Law Clerk at The Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender where he clerked in three divisions: Homicide Task Force, Felony Trial Division and Traffic Court Division. While in law school at Chicago-Kent College of Law, he was a member of the National Veterans Law Moot Court Competition – National Championship team. He made it through two days of rounds of oral arguments against thirteen other schools, culminating with a final oral arguments in front of three federal judges from the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.

He also drafted appellate briefs for The Keleher Appellate Law Group, LLC on issues including federal mortgage fraud and contract interpretation, as well as appellate briefs for the Chicago-Kent Criminal Defense Clinic, on issues pertaining to Illinois’ Sexually Violent Persons Commitment Act.

“For the entirety of my legal education I wanted to be an advocate for individuals who could not speak for themselves. I have always focused my legal career on fighting for individuals who are at very low points in their lives. My clients have been individuals accused of crimes, people who have lost loved ones to horrific accidents, and patients who suffered due to the negligence of another. Although I will never be able to fill the void caused by the loss of a loved one, or cure someone suffering from a debilitating ailment, I consider it my job to get my client as close to whole again as possible.”

In his spare time, Jared’s passion is running. He has been running since high school, competing in races from the mile up to the marathon. He is currently running for the Fleet-Feet Nike Racing Team and as of recently has been focusing on the half marathon and marathon distances. He has qualified for the Boston Marathon multiple times and has won the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services’ Race Judicata 5K both in 2014 and 2015.

In addition to running, he enjoys live music and traveling. After taking the bar exam, he camped in the backcountry of 7 National Parks, 4 National Forests, and several State Parks. An avid music lover, he travels all over the country for music festivals and concerts as well.

Levin and Perconti was always there when we needed them and very quick to answer any questions. We are happy to say that Ashley Herschberger was very professional, informative, kind, and prompt when it came to our case. She was always there if we had a concern or a question. We would recommend Ashley and the law firm, Levin and Perconti, to anyone else. We would also come back with another case of our own if ever needed. The Gonzalez Family
Mr. Levin, Mr. Perconti and the firm handled a medical malpractice suit for my family. During that time, my family and I suffered the loss of my mother. Mr. Levin and Mr. Peconti were more than just our lawyers. Words can’t really express our gratitude. My family and I will always be grateful for the compassion that they showed us. I want to thank you for what you did for my family, and for always being there for us. W.R., Medical Malpractice Client
Our deepest appreciation to the law firm of Levin & Perconti, and in particular to Margaret Battersby Black, in the handling of the lawsuit we field n behalf of our sister who sustained life-threatening injuries as a nursing home resident. Margaret’s representation, guidance, and professionalism gave us the sense that we could put our trust in Levin & Perconti and the final outcome proved that to be true. D.G., Nursing Home Client
I want to send my heartfelt thanks to John Perconti and the Levin & Perconti staff in taking our case. Not only were they so professional but also so caring and thoughtful. It was very difficult going over the facts in our mother's case but they were so compassionate and understanding and allowed us to be with them every step of the way. We were able to sit in on the depositions and we were really able to see how hard they worked on our behalf. M.R.Z., nursing home client
