The Pearl of Rolling Meadows

When choosing an assisted living facility for your loved one, you want to cover all your bases. Does it offer all the amenities you want? Is the medical care adequate? Is it affordable? Finally, is it safe?

You might believe that safety and attentive care are a given at any nursing home facility, but all too often the treatment of residents falls shorts and real harm is caused. This can happen when a nursing home is understaffed and can’t provide enough attention to every resident. Sometimes facilities fail to establish stringent protocols of care or train staff in its protocols. And tragically, sometimes truly abusive people are hired on as caregivers and perpetrate abuse against vulnerable residents.

Reasons aside, no amount of neglect or abuse is appropriate in assisted living, which is why Levin & Perconti is dedicated to informing families like yours about how to be vigilant about the care your senior family members receive in nursing homes and then fighting for the victims of elder abuse and neglect.

The attorneys at Levin & Perconti have extensive experience prosecuting Illinois assisted living facilities in cases involving, but not limited to,

We want you to be able to make the best decisions concerning which nursing home to place your elderly relative and how to prevent any harm coming to them. That’s why we publish information about Illinois facilities, like the one below, and how to prevent and report mistreatment of residents.

Protecting Senior Residents

If your loved one lives in assisted living, they rely on your help to stay safe. You can help ensure they receive the care they need by staying in contact with them and their caregivers and questioning anything that doesn’t seem right. Visit as often as possible to make your own observations and assess how your relative is doing.

Be informed as to signs of elder neglect and abuse. Some of these signs include unexplained injuries or frequent hospitalization, sudden weight loss, severe bedsores, an unkempt appearance, dirty facilities, sudden changes in personality and behavior such as becoming withdrawn or violent, incidents of wandering, and personal belongings being habitually misplaced or lost.

Never be afraid to question protocols or lack thereof. If you have observed signs that your loved one might have suffered mistreated, document what you’ve seen and take it to the facility’s management. If they do not answer your questions or take action to fix the problems, or become defensive and dismissive, you may need to resort to legal action.

Margaret, Daisy and Bryan. This magnificent cohesive team led by Margaret represented us for my mom's nursing home wrongful death case. They were most patient and responded timely to many questions throughout the entire process. All demonstrated professionalism and extensive knowledge of case and state laws. Their in-depth investigative work uncovered details which were unknown to us and yet sadly confirmed our suspicions. We would recommend the Levin and Perconti Law firm and especially this team. Our deepest appreciation to the law firm of Levin & Perconti, and in particular to Margaret Battersby Black, in the handling of the lawsuit we field n behalf of our sister who sustained life-threatening injuries as a nursing home resident. Margaret’s representation, guidance, and professionalism gave us the sense that we could put our trust in Levin & Perconti and the final outcome proved that to be true. D.G., Nursing Home Client
I want to send my heartfelt thanks to John Perconti and the Levin & Perconti staff in taking our case. Not only were they so professional but also so caring and thoughtful. It was very difficult going over the facts in our mother's case but they were so compassionate and understanding and allowed us to be with them every step of the way. We were able to sit in on the depositions and we were really able to see how hard they worked on our behalf. M.R.Z., nursing home client
