What Does a Birth Injury Diagnosis, Such as Cerebral Palsy, Mean for a Child’s Future?
Video Transcript
Cerebral palsy can come in different shapes, and one kid is different than another. Some children with cerebral palsy cognitively are intact, and it’s really just the motor issues that they have. Other kids have both cognitive and motor deficits. And so depending on the severity of the brain damage that led to the Cerebral palsy, the outcome for the child can be different. Often children with cerebral palsy are in wheelchairs. They can be quadriplegic. But regardless, these are lifelong injuries that are never going to improve. They’re what we call static. And so these are children who often require therapies for the rest of their life, surgery, assistance with daily living.
