Client Testimonials

Gena Gruss Romagnoli is Of Counsel at Levin & Perconti, where she represents plaintiffs in complex medical malpractice and personal injury litigation in Illinois state and federal courts. She is an experienced trial lawyer who has successfully handled cases from intake through verdict, with a proven record of securing significant recoveries for injured clients and their families.

Gena has served as lead counsel or second chair in 15–20 medical malpractice jury trials throughout Illinois. She was lead trial counsel in a medical malpractice case that resulted in a verdict exceeding $4 million in Sangamon County in 2022, and she also served as lead counsel in a $3 million+ medical malpractice verdict in Sangamon County in 2019. Earlier in her career, she was sole trial counsel in a Cook County medical malpractice jury trial, securing a mid six-figure verdict on behalf of the plaintiff.
In addition to her trial work, Gena has resolved more than 50 cases through mediation or judicial settlement conferences. She routinely handles all aspects of complex litigation, including case development, expert selection, discovery, dispositive motions, mock trials, and mediation presentations. Her experience includes preparing and presenting settlement brochures, conducting case valuation assessments, and working closely with medical experts in high-exposure negligence cases.

Before focusing exclusively on plaintiff work, Gena began her career on the defense side, representing physicians and medical institutions in medical negligence cases. This background gives her valuable insight into defense strategy and strengthens her ability to anticipate and counter opposing arguments on behalf of her clients.

Gena earned her Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law and her Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. While at the University of Illinois, she competed as a Division I NCAA gymnast, earning Team Captain honors and being named Most Valuable Gymnast.

Outside the courtroom, Gena remains deeply involved in the gymnastics community as a coach at Viking Gymnastics in Niles, Illinois. She also serves on the USA Gymnastics Safety and Response Committee and previously served on the Board of Directors of The Dance Foundation, an organization dedicated to bringing performing arts education to underserved communities.

Gena is admitted to practice in Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. She is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, The Society of Trial Lawyers, and the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Gena lives with her husband, Travis, and their three children, Celia, Vivian and Max.
