Michael Bonamarte Joins Long-Term Care Resident Advocacy Board

Levin & Perconti Attorney

Michael Bonamarte Elected to Consumer Voice Governing Board

Levin & Perconti congratulates partner Michael Bonamarte on his election to the Governing Board of the National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care. The advocacy organization, known as Consumer Voice, is dedicated to protecting nursing home residents’ rights. Beginning in December 2020, Michael will serve a one-year term on the board. Steve Levin recently completed a term on the Consumer Voice Leadership Council.

“I am really proud of the work Levin & Perconti does on behalf of nursing home residents and their loved ones,” Michael said. “I am honored to have the opportunity to support this kind of advocacy on an even broader scale and look forward to joining the Consumer Voice in building awareness of nursing home residents’ rights, educating consumers on how to be a voice for their loved ones in nursing homes, and improving the care and treatment of nursing home residents nationwide. Their work as an organization has never been more critical, and I’m proud to join them in the fight to keep residents safe and hold accountable those nursing home owners and operators who have failed to protect their residents from the spread of the pandemic.”

At Levin & Perconti, Michael handles a range of personal injury matters, with a particular focus on high profile nursing home cases. He has secured several multi-million-dollar jury verdicts and settlements in nursing home and medical malpractice cases. Outside his practice, Michael helps educate other lawyers, speaking at seminars across the country on nursing home litigation topics. He joined Levin & Perconti as an associate attorney in August 2005, was quickly named as one of the Law Bulletin Publishing Company’s “40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch” in 2010, and became a partner at Levin & Perconti in 2014. He is the youngest attorney in the firm’s history to be made partner.

Michael is the immediate past chair of the American Association for Justice’s Nursing Home Litigation Group (AAJ). He is currently chairing the AAJ’s COVID-19 Committee. Michael has also been selected to serve on a special committee on racial inequality formed by the Illinois State Bar Association, where he has been tasked with identifying racial disparities in healthcare, including in nursing homes.

About The Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care

The National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care was formed as NCCNHR (National Citizens’ Coalition for Nursing Home Reform) in 1975 because of public concern about substandard care in nursing homes.
