[Christina]: My sister had renal failure, so she had been on dialysis for quite some time. We actually thought that she’d be just fine because she would go to dialysis regularly, but then her kidneys kept declining. She was on the waitlist for kidney transplant surgery. They eventually said that she was a candidate and that there was a viable kidney waiting for her.

Everything seemed okay, but she just felt really fatigued until one day she had woken up and she was just very lethargic, vomiting, and had nausea. When they took her back to the transplant hospital, it was around COVID, so they wouldn’t let us go with her. The next thing we knew, they called us and told us that we could come for end-of-life visitation. It was just a shock to us. We asked the doctor what was going on, and he said, “I don’t know,” and that her blood wasn’t clotting and he didn’t think it was going to work. You just feel like your hands are tied and there’s nothing you can do, and you think, “This just can’t be right”.
