[John]: I can’t give the exact date, but probably about eight or nine years ago, we went in for a hiatal hernia surgery. I had a previous surgery for a hernia many, many years ago, and there was a lot of scar tissue in there. When [the doctor] went in there, he didn’t correctly put things back together again.
He tied my internal organs to my esophagus, and it created such a problem that it actually gave me a lung fistula. Because of that, I had to have part of my left lung removed. I spent two months in the hospital—which, of course, was the hospital that saved my life. If I hadn’t been in within those couple of days, I probably wouldn’t be here today.
I have the opinion that when these doctors do things wrong, they need to pay back what they’ve done to people, and maybe next time it won’t happen to the next person. I’m not saying that all doctors are bad, but this particular doctor did not do the right thing. Like I said, he went in there, knew there was a problem, and just sewed me back up again. That’s why I proceeded with this lawsuit against them.
Levin & Perconti—they came in, and I can’t say anything other than great. We went in and told them what we wanted; they kept fighting and fighting and fighting, and finally, it wound up in our favor. They had people come in to take videos at the home when I got back, documenting what I had to go through, because I was on a feeding machine for almost two years. They did a terrific job.
You’re asking me what I think of Margaret? I wish I could answer that question because there isn’t enough good things that I can say to reflect what Margaret has done for me. I know that’s her job, but she went above and beyond, and I was very happy and pleased with everything that she did. I have no complaints whatsoever. A company, in my opinion, is only as good as their employees, and this company has got some good employees.
