What are the Signs of Abuse or Neglect at a CILA/Group Home?
Video Transcript
If you have a son, daughter, or loved one in a group home, it’s essential to recognize the signs of neglect and abuse. Many residents are unable to advocate for themselves or may feel afraid or embarrassed to speak up. Being aware and being proactive can make all the difference in ensuring their safety and well-being.
Check in on your loved one and take note of things like behavioral changes, withdrawals, anxiety, unexplained injuries, unexplained weight loss, poor hygiene, pressure sores, falls.
Remember, you know your loved one best. You knew them before they entered the home. If something feels off, trust your gut.
Any sudden changes in behavior, mood, or physical condition should be taken seriously and brought to the facility’s attention right away. Speaking up could make all the difference.
