Very often, I see spinal cord injuries when a person has been in a traumatic event that has fractured the vertebrae around their spinal cord, and those vertebrae have impinged upon the spinal cord and caused some kind of injury. The injury to the spinal cord can, depending on what level of your spine the injury is at, impact your ability to use your legs, to use your arms, and in some cases, even impact your bowel and bladder function. A lot of the spinal cord injuries that we see result in paraplegia, which is an inability to use your legs, or quadriplegia, which is a complete immobile status.
