The worst part of my profession, the part that really makes me sad, is the fact that we cannot give the family.
A normal healthy child, I believe that every client that I’ve ever represented wouldn’t trade every dime if the ultimate outcome of the litigation is that their child is healthy.
We can fix the brain damage.
We can correct all of the impairments.
Unfortunately that is not something that we can do now.
Maybe one day science will find a way to return normal function to a brain that was damaged by oxygen deprivation and lack of blood flow.
The one thing that child advocates can do for their clients is to help them pay for the care, help them be able to maximize the functionality of their kids if their kids need physical.
Therapy to be able to move a little bit better.
They need money to pay for physical therapy.
If kids need 24/7 care, somebody has to pay for that.
So the care, the money to pay for that care is part of the reason why these lawsuits are filed.
In every case, an analysis is done by experts to determine what the The child needs and the ultimate goal is to provide the jury with appropriate expert credible testimony as to what the child’s needs are, what it will cost to pay for those needs, and hopefully the jury will agree and will award enough money to the family to be able to provide that care.
