It’s important to understand that babies really don’t breathe on their own.
That’s not what happens during pregnancy.
How do the nutrients and the oxygen that comes from the mother get to the baby through the umbilical cord.
There are different insertions of the umbilical cord.
In the ideal world, the cord would insert itself in the middle of the placenta in the most perfect place so that maximum blood can pass from the placenta.
Through the baby with lots of oxygen and lots of nutrients, marginal cord insertions are certain kinds of cord insertions that are on the side of the placenta, off on angles in the placenta.
They are not in the ideal best position for the placenta.
Center to maximally deliver blood flow and oxygen.
When you have marginal insertions of the cord, parts of the vessels, the arteries can be exposed, and when they are exposed, there’s always risk that they will rupture.
That would compromise the baby dramatically.
